WHAT IS IT?
The Plenary of the City Council adopted this agreement, unanimously by the Municipal Political Groups, in the “Debate on the State of the City” session held on March 5, 2021:
“To design, articulate and initiate a participatory process with all citizens, economic and social agents, entities, groups and municipal groups of our city that allows us to lay the common strategic foundations for the future of our city under the framework of a shared Urban Agenda with respect to the global Sustainable Development Goals, for the preservation of the environment, the fight against climate emergency and the creation of opportunities for sustainable social and economic progress”.
The “Terrassa Urban Agenda” is a strategic, non-regulatory document that is part of a set of international pacts that define the main goals of a global strategy for sustainable development:
Agenda 2030 (adopted by the UN in 2015, with 17 Sustainable Development Goals or SDGs).
New Urban Agenda of the United Nations (approved by the UN in 2016).
Urban Agenda for the European Union (approved by the EU in 2016).
Spanish Urban Agenda (approved in 2019).
Urban Agenda of Catalonia (approved in 2022).
Terrassa, with the elaboration of the Urban Agenda and Action Plan, acts coherently towards a long and solid trajectory of participation and commitment in European and international strategies, projects, networks, organizations and lines of action.
On the other hand, having a broad catalog of projects and strategic plans with a remarkable base of citizen participation and political and social consensus allows them to be placed and contextualized within a city roadmap, with a more transversal vision focused on global objectives.
