CITY MODEL 2030

In order to define a strategic framework for Terrassa, in the context of sustainable development, it is necessary to start from the major citizen objectives, on which a very broad consensus can be detected and established, in the context of the global objectives for 2030.

These are the most prominent ones that frequently emerge in the public debate, expressed in very different ways and also based on different priorities, but with a high degree of coincidence:

A city capable of projecting a collective future in the medium/long term, based on its capabilities and potential, generating development, wealth and employment, in an environment of social justice and equal opportunities.

A territorially balanced city, with a good level of well-being and quality of life, and with the capacity to generate the necessary public resources for a good provision of services and for the improvement of the urban space.

An inclusive and diverse city, committed to human rights, gender equality, freedoms and the improvement of democracy.

A city capable of exercising leadership in those areas that are strong points from a country perspective and establishing alliances with other municipalities or territories.

An increasingly “greener”, compact and sustainable city that respects and values its natural environment and offers an increasingly healthier and higher quality of life to its citizens.

A city with solid mechanisms, channels and spaces for dialogue and participation, as well as cooperation (administration, citizens, entities, companies, groups…) to agree and achieve shared objectives (to a greater or lesser degree) and oriented to the general interest, without having to renounce legitimate individual or group interests.

A city with a strong industrial tradition and identity (19th and 20th centuries), which has evolved towards a diversified economy, with a great weight of commerce and services, as well as a notable educational and university character, based on innovation, technology and talent.

In order to gather the main characteristics of these citizen visions and bring them together in an overall vision and strategic orientation within the 2030 horizon, it is considered necessary:

To make the “strategic focus” as concrete as possible (concentrate the strategy and avoid dispersion).

Activate the city’s talent and capabilities, based on its identity.

Elaborate a clear and powerful strategic synthesis.

Establish bases and channels for citizen consensus.

To provide us with the flexibility and agility necessary to adapt the roadmap to a rapidly changing reality that is difficult to foresee in the medium or long term.
