“Terrassa, capital innoindustrial”: a strategic, economic, sustainable and social vision for the future

Terrassa, a technological, talented and enterprising city

  • Placing technology at the service of collective progress in areas such as economic activity, education and training, social equity, employment, equal opportunities…
  • Promote activities in the fields of industry 4.0, blockchain, artificial intelligence, data management, machine learning, cybersecurity, internet of things and quantum computing.
  • Generate scholarships and grants, guarantee first class communication infrastructures, create spaces for the dissemination of technology and innovation, encourage entrepreneurship, promote technological training in educational centers and foster scientific-technological vocations among girls and entrepreneurship among women.
  • Promote talent, the university and vocational training as the long-term axis of economic and social progress. Agreements with incubators/coworkings. Facilitate the growth of start-ups and acceleration programs.
  • Applied search.
  • Promote collaboration with local and valley university centers.

Competitive territorial specialization based on Health and Audiovisual and new innovative sectors.

  • Develop the full potential of the two current key verticals: healthcare and audiovisual.
  • Explore opportunities in the field of sport applied to health (science and technology, management, audiovisuals, e-sports…), with the involvement of the city’s sporting fabric and the attraction/implication of tractor companies.
  • Promote opportunities in the field of textiles applied to health: smart clothing, biological fabrics (health uses), sports / technical clothing – Smart Textile (fabrics that can react to environmental stimuli, whether mechanical, thermal, chemical, magnetic, electrical, cardiovascular, etc.). To value the creation of a specific label of Terrassa design.
  • In the audiovisual, multimedia and cultural fields, promote the creative arts linked to technology, image, multimedia, cinema, video games… and explore the creation of an “Innovation Rambla” (Audiovisual Park, Leitat and Euncet axis), a model that could be replicated in other areas of the city. In this same area, explore the creation of the E-sports cluster and the Games Industry (design, audio, multimedia, etc.).
  • Opportunities in innovative sectors: automotive and mobility. Involvement of companies in the sector, cooperation with the University and its network of laboratories, collaboration agreements with other municipalities, especially in the field of hybrid and electric mobility.
  • Retention and enhancement of current industrial activity and attraction of projects and companies, developing a strategy aligned with the strengths of the city (urban quality, natural environment, education, housing, culture and sports, communications…).

Develop the innovative district model (technological, industrial and entrepreneurial).

  • Explore the opportunities that can be generated by the creation of an “Innovative District” (technological and industrial), with various possibilities of territorial implantation in the north and south of the city, integrated into the urban fabric, attractive to talent and knowledge-intensive companies, open and connected to the entire city and with residential quality and vitality.
  • This/these space/s would be defined by a high demand for sustainability and energy efficiency, a mix model of residential, academic, commercial/service and productive uses (compact city) and the development of economic activities with high added value.
  • Explore the possibilities, feasibility and opportunities of establishing this model in the North Zone of the city, as well as in the Siglo XX zone (south), drawing two innovative district zones South (technological, advanced services and clean industry) and North (technological linked to competitive specialization and new sectors/opportunities).

Social and digital innovation

  • Commit to reduce the digital divide, to promote technological training of citizens and professional reskilling, with initiatives such as the creation of a “digital axis” to promote the training and inclusion of citizens in everything related to digital economy. Value the inclusion in this axis of neighborhoods such as Can Anglada, San Pedro Norte, Casa de Palet, Las Arenas, San Lorenzo, Egara, Casa de Jofresa, Casa de Palet II and Guadalhorce-Jucar, located in a geographical area in the east of the city, around the future transformation of the Arenas stream and Avenida del Vallés.
  • To focus on technological training for all, to reduce the digital divide among citizens (especially children, women and the elderly) and social inequalities, for professional specialization training (reskilling) and training for employment to reduce unemployment among people over 45 years of age.
  • Evaluate the possibility of assigning a facility or emblematic building in the eastern part of the city as a space for training and social cohesion activities.

Cooperation, participation and public-private partnerships

  • Weave alliances and complicities between the administration and the productive, academic and social world.
  • Encourage public-private cooperation, promote a private investment fund for local start-ups and scale ups and sponsorship programs.
  • Explore the creation of governance that is as horizontal as possible (with municipal and supramunicipal stakeholders) and also vertical (within the ecosystem itself), ensuring stability, predictability and the achievement of measurable results.
  • Explore the creation of a forum or space for permanent debate, reflection, participation and evaluation, open to the involvement of the entire city, as well as annual conferences for debate and analysis of experiences and opportunities.
