- The current forecast is that Terrassa will reach a population figure of around 246,000 in 2033. Previous demographic projections calculated a figure of 250,000 inhabitants for the year 2030.
- Since 2015, population growth has been fairly stable, below 1% per year and with a peak of 1.5% between 2018-2019, reaching 224,000 inhabitants in 2020.
- The forced pause imposed by the effects of the pandemic practically froze growth, which has gradually recovered and is expected to continue at a rate of approximately 2,000 people each year. Terrassa closed the year 2021 with 224,474 inhabitants.
- At the moment, Terrassa mainly attracts people from Spain (3 out of every 4 people). Of these, 82.3% have their origin in Catalonia, and 85.5% of these come from the metropolitan region, highlighting the counties of Vallès Occidental (25.8%) and Barcelonès (17.9 %).
- As for the foreign population (1 in 4 new arrivals), more than 50% come from Latin American countries.
- The consolidation of Terrassa as the third most populous city in Catalonia is foreseeable, in the context of demographic growth which, according to Idescat, may involve reaching the figure of 8 million inhabitants in 2030.
